Dr. Jim Petrik is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph. His research interests include the regulation of angiogenesis in the etiology of ovarian cancer, the therapeutic role of anti-angiogenic molecules, and altered glucose availability in cancer through the study of mouse models. He is a recent recipient of a Canadian Institutes for Health Research grant investigating the role of thrombospondin in the regulation of angiogenesis in ovarian cancer and a Canadian Women’s Health grant to study altered glucose metabolism in ovarian cancer. Dr. Petrik will present his findings in Symposium III: Models of Ovarian Cancer for Mechanistic and Therapeutic Studies.
